Search Google Drive from the Omnibar in Chrome

One of my favorite time savers is to able to search my Google Drive files directly from Chrome's Search/Omnibar. That way I can search my files and save the step of going to Google Drive first to enter my search. Chrome makes this really easy to do. Take a look at my video and the link below to see how it works. It takes just a minute to set up but saves me steps everyday! Check it out!

Learning Some ".new" Tricks

Did you know?

Here's a fantastic time saver for you! In the Google Chrome omnibox (otherwise known as the search bar or address bar), if you type "docs.new", you can quickly and easily create a new Google Docs document which is added to your Google Drive. I use this trick daily. It works with other Google Apps as well See the list below. So handy!

Here’s a full list of the new shortcuts:

Docs: doc.new, docs.new, document.new
Forms: form.new, forms.new
Sheets: sheet.new, sheets.new, spreadsheet.new
Slides: slides.new, deck.new, presentation.new
Sites: site.new, sites.new, website.new

Here's how to use your ".new" trick!

The Magic of Sir Links-a-Lot: Force Copy, Preview, and more!

The Sir Link-a-Lot Google Chrome extension is so great! With it, you can easily create links to a Google Doc or other Google document which you can then share with others to force them to make a copy or see only in preview mode. You can make it a template (kind of link Force Copy) or share a PDF of the item, too! You'll get a link you can copy to the clipboard and share with others. So handy!

To install it, go here. Then click the Sir Links-a-lot link from link of extensions (or pin it to your Chrome bookmark bar for easy access). Go ahead, try it out!

Daily Agenda for Google Slides

Daily Agenda logo

One of my favorite add-ons for Google Slides is from Alice Keeler. It's has been a daily staple for me. I have a slide deck of my agendas for each grade level. With the click of a button I can add a new slide with today's date or tomorrow's date as a heading. Placeholders are added for your agenda and content. Every day has a new color background for easy differentiation. I simply add my agenda items, a daily attendance question, and the May Do options for the day. It's so easy and saves me time every day. It's easy to install as a Google Slides add-on. There are additional premium features available for only $5.

More information is available from Alice Keeler's blog. Check it out!
